Charter work

Snorre Lothar von Gohren Edwin

Hi community!

We just had a meeting on how to go about our charter. See summary here: https://github.com/decentralized-identity/interoperability/blob/master/agenda.md#agenda---24-nov---eu-time

The main idea of why its so short is documented in the agenda mentioned first.

Have a great day

Wednesday's meeting information and invitation

Snorre Lothar von Gohren Edwin

Hey all!
This week we are getting a visit from the German community and hear how they have gone about interop. This conversation started during IIW and has been pulled through to have an introduction in DIF interop, and see what we learn and take from their approach.

This meeting is on Wednesday, 10th of November, Europe time 3PM.

Or just add the whole DIF calendar to your calendar: https://bit.ly/dif-calendar

Look forward to seeing you there, I believe it is going to be a great introduction!

Incase you dont want anything in your calender, you have the zoom link here: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86023611186?pwd=WmVqWk9HOWRyK3l4TjhXaGgxa1VjUT09

This is great!
Already 10 great answers, we do hope for more to get a better data set!
Have a quick look at this and you are done in a minute, but help the chairs out tremendously!

Next Meeting Sept 1.

Kaliya Identity Woman

Hi folks,

The new group of Chairs met. We know it is the last two weeks of August and we also have some prep homework to do and discussions to have coming out of our last meeting considering WACI-PEx Interoperability.
We also have to do some discernment about when to meet as a group.

So we are cancelling our next two meetings. Our next meeting will be September 1 at 6am pacific/9am ET.

- Kaliya

This week on DIF Interop - Lal & George from iGrant.io demo some X.509+NFC magic

juan caballero

The official title is "Enabling exchange of x509-signed personal data using VC" but it involves:
- NFC transport (pull the claims out of any modern passport!)
- X.509 "wrapping" - what is best practice? can a general-purpose method be written down to bootstrap existing issuance systems?
- The proposed MyData DID method (re-registers an existing DID in a data-sharing agreement for MyData contexts)

Be there or be square!
-- juan

P.S. If you haven't voted for new chairs of the group-- there's still time!

WHOOPS if you already voted, please log back in, the ballot was misconfigured to only allow one candidate!  Luckily I *did* find the "users can change their responses after submitting" option.

Thanks,

Self-nomination as co-chair

David Waite

Hello! I am David Waite, and I would like to self-nominate for a role as co-chair of the interop WG.

I am a principal engineer at Ping Identity with the Product Innovation group, where I've worked to further develop and implement interoperable standards for  over a decade.

My hope is that we can lead the interop working group to further help make sense of a very complex space involving lots of disparate and sometimes overlapping efforts. My hope is that by providing a forum for people interested in interoperability to collaborate, we will naturally develop technology stacks that will encourage broader interoperability rather than vertical-specific technology choices.

Thank you,
David Waite (DW)

Re: A humble self nomination to co-chair

Brian Richter

Hello all,

My name is Brian Richter and I would like to self nominate for a co-chair role of the DIF Interop WG.
I am the Founder / CEO of Aviary Technologies Inc and we are 1 of the companies that completed a Proof of Concept for Canada's User Centric Verifiable Digital Credentials Challenge (https://canada-ca.github.io/ucvdcc/). We are continuing to develop that product and will hopefully be bringing it to market.

I have been a long time DIF / CCG / HL Aries lurker and am starting to become more active within the various groups of interest from an interoperability perspective. I have my eyes on the following groups and would love to help distill some of the knowledge I have been building and continue to bring in and coordinate great guest speakers to the interop working group.
  • CCG VC-HTTP-API
  • CCG Traceability
  • DIF DIDComm
  • DIF Claims & Credentials
  • DIF Applied Crypto
Thanks,
Brian

Minimal requirements on a revocation method - Survey

Andreas Freitag

Hi all,

I released a survey two weeks ago (https://forms.gle/dsY2oe6LYr5x7txj6) with the goal to define the MINIMAL REQUIREMENTS ON A REVOCATION method.

If you have already participated "Thank you!". If you haven't and you are active in the SSI practice it would be great if you can spend 5min.

We will distribute the results across the participants anonymized. The overall research is about the revocation of verifiable credentials for large scale production systems.
We assess different methods to identify the best-suited revocation method for large scale SSI systems.

Enclosed the intermediate results for the privacy part.

best regards
Andreas Freitag

SSI score / revocation schemes

Andreas Freitag

Hi all,

thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself in the last DIF Interop call.
As mentioned, I am currently working on 3 topics/papers as part of my PhD:
  • Systemization of Knowledge: accumulator schemes for VCs & What are the requirements on an accumulator?
  • SSI assessment framework: Am I a SSI system? - defining a SSI score and KO criteria for a digital identity system
  • SSI usability: user-provider-developer (very early stage)
It would be great if I can discuss my findings with you and get your feedback during the next months.

br,
Andreas

Flavors of VC Paper Published

Kaliya Identity Woman

Several weeks ago on the Interop Call we walked through this paper that I was working on for the Covid Credentials Intiative to explain the flavors of verifiable credentials.

It is now live on the LFPH site  https://www.lfph.io/2021/02/11/cci-verifiable-credentials-flavors-and-interoperability-paper/

The PDF can be found here. https://www.lfph.io/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Verifiable-Credentials-Flavors-Explained.pdf

The first part of the paper explains the following data formats of VCs by walking through a credential lifecycle:

* JSON-LD family with LD Signatures or with BBS+ Signatures that enable Zero Knowledge Proofs (ZKP or ZKPs)

* JSON with JSON Web Signatures, precisely in the form of a JSON Web Token (JWT)

* ZKP with Camenisch-Lysyanskaya Signatures (ZKP-CL)

The second part discussed at length the differences between JSON and JSON-LD and the differences between the two different ways to express ZKPs, namely ZKP-CL and the newest flavor JSON-LD ZKP with BBS+, which is being well received.

I hope it can help reduce the confusion in the market and support convergence.
