Secure Data Storage Working Group
Welcome to the Secure Data Storage Working Group! We are working group that is jointly supported by the Decentralised Identity Foundation (DIF) and Credentials Community Group (CCG), our current work item on "confidential storage" is primarily hosted at DIF, including this WIKI.
This group formed out of two communities working on almost the same thing and instead of doing two separate things we decided to work together, which were
- The Encrypted Data Vault Community working on how to have blob data storage that was totally encrypted on the server. In part focused on how to store materials related to Verifiable Credentials. It has 3 different working implementations and a specification. This work originated in the Credentials Community Group.
- The Identity Hub was a vision and prototype spec being developed to support developers being able to access particular types of data that a person might have. Enabling apps to be built based on people’s data. This type of functionality would lie on top of an Encrypted Data Vault. This work originated in the Decentralised Identity Foundation.
As a result of combining these two communities, the summary of our groups current charter is the following:
Create one or more specifications to establish a foundational layer for secure data storage (including personal data), specifically data models for storage and transport, syntax, data at rest protection, CRUD HTTP API, access control, synchronisation, and a minimum viable HTTP-based interface compatible with W3C DIDs/VCs.

SDS WG - first WG meeting
Balázs Némethi <balazs@...>
Dear all, The Secure Data Storage community hosted its first IPR protected call, marking the start of the work we waited for. Thank you for everyone who joins the calls and pushes this WG to get here! The work starts here. It also means that we will enforce IPR protection from now on both during the calls and on the mailing list (the use of corporate email addresses on the mailing list, if available, is necessary). In case you or your organization has not yet officially joined the Working Group, please reach out to me, and I will assist you with the documentation. The voting for the Chairs and the Editors of the WG are open until the 24th April (until the next meeting), please cast your votes. Also, there was a request to read up on the Working Group the related documents to have the necessary foundation for the meetings to come on discussing the avenues of work consolidation. and the WG now also has a page on the foundation's site that will be kept updated. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. Balázs Némethi Operations @ DIF

Darrell O'Donnell and the CULedger project
Hey SDS:
Just a quick note on our use-cases document: Has anyone
chatted with Darrell O'Donnell on these matters? I was just
looking at his 2019 report on bridging identity wallets and
crypto wallets and I came across this curious section. He'll be
at the EIC thing Thursday, so I was thinking of inviting him to
have a little chat about it. Are people from outside the group
welcome to open github issues on the use case documents or
otherwise inform/discuss them, or is that an IPR no-no? Thanks,
